Day 11
October 1, 2004

Woke up positive and feeling fine.
Had a long bath and another good scrub. The Iodine shampoo is still making my hair dull and fluffy so I'm keen to go onto normal shampoo pretty sharpish.
Scabs are starting to fall off (and being picked off by me) from where the stitches where - actually very therapeutic having a pick!
Hat hasn't touched my head since yesterday and probably won't again!
Been out a few times now and are much less self conscious - in fact, no-one probably has the faintest idea that I've had a hair transplant as it looks very normal.
Scalp is still numb and slightly itchy but not uncomfortable in the slightest.
Used the Lasercomb again this evening to keep up the growth, heeling and re-growth.
All in all, today was a good day!
Day 12
October 2, 2004

Busy day today as met my dad for the first time since the Op - he was very impressed and said the only difference was that I had more hair and looked slightly sunburnt on top.
I went clubbing on the night which boosted my confidence no end. No one gave me a second look and therefore no one had any idea I had anything done - Used a bit of Bryll hair cream which irradicated the fluffiness.
The unusual thing was I also met my brother who I hadn't seen for ages and all he said was that he couldn't remember the last time he saw me with hair (I usually crop my hair - grade 1 so now it has some length)
What a great day and night...life just gets better.
Day 13
October 3, 2004

Washed my hair in baby shampoo and now off the iodine stuff.
Used the Lasercomb and had a day of hangover recovery.
Hair is still falling out but I am still very positive.
Day 14
October 4, 2004

Not much to report for today - worked hard, relaxed on the evening and slept well.
Hair is almost the way it was pre-op so all in all, completely recovered in 2 weeks!
Day 15
October 5, 2004

Top of head still numb and a bit dry/scaly feeling, scar is still a little tight but not at all uncomfortable.
Used Lasercomb (every other day now) and on the long wait for the hair to start growing back.
Day 16
October 6, 2004

Just a normal day at the office and a normal midweek evening at home...I can't actually believe that just over 2 weeks ago I had 6 hours of surgery!
Went to Tesco's to try and find some baby conditioner to moisturise my scalp. No such thing unfortunately so going to use a mild conditioner after the weekend.
Day 17
October 7, 2004

Had my hair cut today - just a quick tidy up as it had become a bit woolly. Was the centre of attention in the hairdressers as all the stylist wanted to have a look at the results of a good hair transplant...I've become a bit of a celebrity!
Scar is very evident at the back of my head as the haircut was a little too short but not a great issue.
Used the Lasercomb for 15 minutes this evening.
Day 18
October 8, 2004

Popped into Boots to see if they did anything to mask my scar at the back of my head but the pharmacist said it was hardly noticeable and not to bother - Quite reassuring really.
Hair back to pre-op stage now as very little of the transplanted hair is left.
Day 19
October 9, 2004

Went out shopping and then on the evening for a few pints but apart from that all is normal.
Hair is back to the way it was pre-op so still waiting....
Day 20
October 10, 2004

Hangover day!!!
Used the Lasercomb which is actually a great cure for a hangover!
Nothing changing on top yet.
Day 21
October 11, 2004

Had day off work today as felt very rough this morning I don't think it was related to my hair or tablets, more than likely the hot curry I had last night.
Had a long soak in the bath and noticed a couple of bristles coming through on top. Probably not the new hair growing yet but it certainly made me smile.
Day 23
October 13, 2004

What a busy day today at work!
Explained to some of my work colleagues who were down for the day about the Op. They were so fascinated.
Used a bit of Fucicort on the front of my scalp as it feels like I have a few little spots coming (which was to be expected)
Used Lasercomb again.
Day 25
October 15, 2004

Well, I've just had the shock of my life - looked very closely at my scalp in the mirror at work and there seems to be hundreds of stubbly hairs coming through. It actually looks as if I have 100's of blackheads on my scalp!
This really could be the start. I'm really hopeful it is as we go on holiday in 10 days and I'd love to have at least a shadow on my scalp.
Used the Lasercomb for 15 mins this evening.
Out on the night for a few drinks - my confidence is growing daily!
Day 26
October 16, 2004

Now that's what I call obvious results after 3 weeks!
Trimmed my hair to a grade 4 all over to tidy it up. Not much came off but it does look very neat.
Day 27
October 17, 2004

A bit of a heavy head this morning.
I thought I'd put together a before and after photo to see how far I'd developed'have a look at this!!
Day 28
October 18, 2004

Nothing much to report today.
Thought about using Nanogen hair thickening products.
After taking advice, decided not to use it. What I was told makes a lot of sense..."it's like planting seeds then covering them with a layer of soot!"
I've decided to try the product very sparingly as not to damage the transplants simply because curiosity is getting the better of me! It should arrive in a couple of days so I'll keep this up to date with how it looks and feels.
Used the Lasercomb this evening whilst watching TV - it really is incredibly therapeutic!
Day 29
October 19, 2004

Same old same old sort of day. Busy at work, feel positive and only 6 days until my holiday (a week in Gran Canaria...here I come!)
Waiting for Nanogen to arrive - should be in tomorrow's post - however, still very dubious about using it.
"It's like putting weed-killer on a newly planted garden" - I think that was enough of a warning not to use it until most of the hair's through (Another 3 months).
I have heard of guys that have used an eyebrow pencil rubbed into the palm of the hand and dabbed on the thin/bald bits....off to Boots tomorrow to give it a go!
Day 30
October 20, 2004
Nothing much to report today
Day 31
October 21, 2004

Well, it's a full month since my procedure and I'm already happy with the results. Many people have said they can see the hair coming through although very fine and light.
Things are just getting better and better as time passes and the feeling of me having a full head of hair again is a true reality and getting closer and closer. It's difficult to put into words how you feel when someone says "your hair's looking good" or "you're looking really well".
I'm happy!
Nanogen still not arrived but it could be fate telling me not to use it!
Day 32
October 22, 2004

Not much to report today - Typical Friday, out to the pub on the night, last day at work before my Holiday.
Nanogen have misplaced my order so given me a local supplier I can try - D S Products.
Day 33
October 23, 2004

Busy day today - picked up Nanogen hair product from Birmingham, visited family and returned home in the floods!
Tried the Nanogen on my hair but I need to have more hair before it works well. I might be able to use it in a couple of months but not suitable yet.
It is like "soot" and I can see how well it works on thinning hair - it looked great on the back of my head where the hair is thin but didn't work at all on my bald bits.
Check out my links section for details of where to get Nanogen from - I recommend D S Products for getting this and other products.
Day 34
October 24, 2004

An interesting and informative day today.
Went to Boots to pick up some eyeliner for my scalp and was quite nervous about asking. The No7 girl was probably the most warm and helpful person I have met this year and was a star!
I picked up "wet" eyeliner - Mocha, Jet Black and a Dark Brown.
Paint these onto to the palm of your hand and mix until the colour looks about right. Add a little moisturiser to keep wet and dab it onto the scalp - the effect is great as it produces a shadow where the bald bits are. Go steady and a little is definitely better (I put too much on to start with and it was too obvious)
The photos are after I applied this to my scalp.
Off on holiday tomorrow so am really pleased this worked - I was a little disappointed with not being able to use Nanogen as I didn't have enough hair.
Day 35
October 25, 2004

What a long day - rushed around this morning and flew to Gran Canaria in the afternoon.
Went out to the bars and had a fantastic night although a little too much to drink...hey ho!
Here for 7 days so well and truly chilling out.
Oh, by the way, hair and scalp are pretty much the same...nothing much to report.
The photo's were taken very early the following morning as I didn't have chance to take any photos during the busy day.
Day 36
October 26, 2004

Well it's 28 degrees, the sun is shining, it's a beautiful day.
Just used the Lasercomb after a quick sunbathe and then had a very good close look at my scalp to see if anything was happening - my scalp seemed to be getting a shadow a week ago and I thought this was because of new hair growth....how right I was - have a look at this:

There is definitely new hair there - some of it only 1mm in length, some of it longer. The longer hair seems very fine however the shorter hair is dark and thick and a bit stubbly.
I can now really foresee what it's going to be like in a couple more months - Hair for Christmas!!!
Day 37
October 27, 2004

It's hangover day...how much did I drink last night'''
How do I feel - this is a really difficult one to explain. I have never felt so confident, we went out last night and I felt very good about myself. It's all down to the hair transplant.
I didn't realise how much the balding had affected my confidence prior to the Op.
OK, I've got a long way to go as some of this new growth will fall out to make way for the thicker hair (Terminal). It's almost as if I can see the future, you can see my new hairline and where it's going to be and you can see how having hair will make me look younger and more handsome (excuse the arrogance here).
Life is GOOD!
Day 38
October 28, 2004

Not so much of a heavy night last night so no hangover!!!
Used Lasercomb this morning and noticed more hair on top!
A good friend came up with a good point yesterday and said "the camera shows more than the eye can see" - take the scar on the back of my head, the camera shows it quite obvious but it really is unnoticeable.
Also, the camera doesn't pick up the 100's of hairs coming through on my scalp but they really are there - the camera picks up the redness of the scalp but not the hairs themselves.
Day 39
October 29, 2004

Another relaxed day on holiday...nice!
It's official, a good friend said "your hair's getting thicker on top"...it made my day!
Not much else to report, life is still good :)
Day 40
October 30, 2004

Used lasercomb today without the teeth as recommended by Hairmax.
I like to keep active on the forums which cover many FAQ's regarding the comb - have a look at the Hairmax forum.
Good day today - hair's still coming through!
Day 41
October 31, 2004

Last day on the island and hair is still looking good.
Off out to party the night away so have applied "darkener" to my scalp and feeling incredibly confident again.
