Day 103

January 1, 2005

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Used Lasercomb this morning and unfortunately getting a few spots coming back - it's definately the darkener that's doing it as they only appear after I've used it for a few days. Hey ho, worth it!

Hair not looking so thick today but I suppose hair has it's good days and bad days - once it grows, I think I need a lesson in hair-styling!

Day 104

January 2, 2005

Got a lump on the front of my hairline which is annoying - it's making my scalp more domed shaped.

Probably a blocked pore - going to get it checked out if it doesn't disappear.

Day 105

January 3, 2005

Funny old day today - went to casualty as the lump had moved from the front of my head to the back of my head!!

They said it was more than likely a cyst - very common and nothing really to worry about. Going to my local GP if it doesn't go down to get it checked out.

Apart from that, everything AOK!
Losing track of the days so forgot to use the Lasercomb...playing catch up again tomorrow!

Day 106

January 4, 2005

Have an appointment with the GP on Thursday to check these lumps out - I guess he'll just give me some cream and tell me to go away - I VERY rarely go to the Doctors so have no idea what to expect.

Using lasercomb tonight as a catch up, then tomorrow and finishing on Friday.

Hair is looking good today - every day is like a new style. Can't wait for it to grow!

Day 107

January 5, 2005

All is well on the hair front - the lumps are going down - sod's law since I'm off to the GP tomorrow for him to have a look at!

Using Lasercomb again tonight so that'll be 2 of of the 3 sessions done this week.

Every day my hair grows a little more, I am happier and happier - can't wait to have longer hair - even a couple more inches on top.

Day 108

January 6, 2005

Been to the GP this morning to check out these lumps and there's nothing really to worry about.

The way he explained it was some of the hairs might not have taken or the pore from which the hair comes out of might be quite open, basically, there is an opening in the scalp. This opening gets blocked and the body continues to produce sebum underneath the blockage hence the swelling. This then causes the surrouning follicles to become slightly inflamed and this is why it appears as if the lump moves across the scalp.

The reason why the opening get blocked is down to what you put on your scalp - in theory, if the scalp was kept clean and free of gels, colours, darkeners and sprays, the lumps would not appear.

My scalp is incredibly clean and hygenic (I'm a bit of a hygene freak) but I do use gels, colours and darkeners.

The photos here are me with no gel, darkener or styling product whatsoever on - my virgin head :)

Day 109

January 7, 2005

Took a trip to London on business today - first time I've been on a tube since my Op.

I used to remember looking at my reflection in the glass on the train and tube and seeing a bald man staring back at me - how different today was.

My hair still has a fair bit of thickening to do but it really is amazing what has happened over the past few months.

Used Lasercomb this evening and popped a couple of lumps on my head and added Fucicort to stop any spread of infection - the swelling has gone down so I'm hopeful the antibiotics are working.

Day 110

January 8, 2005

Ouch! My head hurts, I really must cut back on drinking on a Friday night :)

Hair looks really thin and limp this morning - actually a good thing as 4 months ago, I used to wake up bald!

Used some new product on my hair - Trevor Sorbie Moulding Mud, applied to towel dried hair on top of a little darkener, results are pretty damn good!

Day 111

January 9, 2005

Not much to report on the hair-front today apart from I feel fantastic about my new locks!!!

Probably only about 60% there but am already happy - Things can only get better and better!

Thought I'd write down my hair routine:

  • 1. Wash hair twice with hair thickening shampoo

  • 2. Condition hair

  • 3. Towel dry hair

  • 4. Apply DermMatch - quite wet and only a very thin coating

  • 5. Dab scalp with tissue to remove moisture and dry darkener and hair at the same time

  • 6. Apply generous amount of Moulding Mud (rub into palms first then be rough on application)

  • 7. Using a vent brush, roughly brush hair into style

Hey presto - I have a new hairstyle!!!

Day 112

January 10, 2005

Ordered more DermMatch today from DSProducts.

Going to try Medium Brown as the Dark Brown does look a little to dark on top especially now my hair is brown.

Used Lasercomb and plodding along watching my hair grow every day :)

These pictures are me just out of the bath - no product whatsoever and limited light.

Day 113

January 11, 2005

Can't believe I'm into my 17th week since the procedure. WOW!

All going good on top, definately decided to grow my hair now - keeping the sides shorter and the top longer. Just a matter of time now :)

Day 114

January 12, 2005

Now using Medium Brown DermMatch which is really making a lot of difference - I think it looks much more natural.

Confidence is still high and more than happy with the results - I can't believe I might only be 50-60% of the way there, it looks superb!

Using the Lasercomb this evening - I have used it 3 times a week since the week of my procedure.

Day 115

January 13, 2005

A great day at work with a very positive outlook on life - I seem to be so different with hair!

All is going well :)

Day 116

January 14, 2005

It's FRIDAY!!!!

Using Lasercomb tonight to finish off my 3 sessions this week.

Less than a week to go until I reach 4 months - the half way point!

Day 117

January 15, 2005

Used Lasercomb this morning as I forgot to do it last night.

Everything looking great on top.

A good friend said something really true last night - because I have gradually got more hair, people haven't really noticed the difference, if I got a wig, it would have been obvious. How true!

Day 118

January 16, 2005

Another lovely chilled out day - hair looking great still, and not even fully grown or thickened out yet. 2005 is most definately my year!

Site now redesigned with a new look - hope you like it.

Day 119

January 17, 2005

Still addicted to 'The Hairstyler''trying out loads of new styles for 2005 - I've never done this before so am really enjoying myself!

Using Lasercomb and then out for a meal.

Day 120

January 18, 2005

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD :)

Well, all is still going well on the hair front - just waiting for my hair to grow...I give it 5 months and I'll be able to style my hair however I like.

Day 121

January 19, 2005

Off out to the pub tonight so a short journal entry.

Using the Lasercomb before I go out.

Day 122

January 20, 2005

Well it's been 4 months and I am more than happy with the results so far. I cannot believe that I was bald 4 months ago!

Off out tonight to a gig so I'll have my own private celebration and drink to all the team at the Clinic.

Excuse the really bad photo's these were taken in a lift!

Day 123

January 21, 2005

Using the Lasercomb tonight after a long day of travelling - can't wait!

Hair still looking amazing and growing by the day.

Having a trim and a tidy up tomorrow.

Check out the photos - this is me with very messy hair after a kip - where's the curly locks come fromhehehe

Day 124

January 22, 2005

Went to the hairdressers today - not to have a haircut but to chat to the stylist about what I should'do with my new head of hair.

I am waiting for 1 month (Until 20th February) and then having my hair cut into a style which I can grow.

Something like this maybe'

Day 125

January 23, 2005

Day out today - full of confidence having a head full of hair :)

Actually used Lasercomb this morning as I forgot last night.

Day 126

January 24, 2005

Just started on a course of MSM to accelerate the growth of my hair - it is completley natural and therefore I'm comfortable taking it.

Must say thanks to a guy who had a transplant over 2 months ago for recommending it to me...cheers buddy!

I take 4000-5000mg with water after my morning snack every day - tastes dreadful but I'm hopeful of the results - can't do any harm!

Using Lasercomb as normal tonight.

Day 127

January 25, 2005

Boy this MSM tastes bad! Now taking 3000mg (1/2 tsp) with a small glass of water. Not pleasant so need to find ways to mask the taste without making it a chore in the mornings.

Meeting another guy today who has recently had a transplant so we can compare follicles!

Just another update, had no lumps on my head for over a week now and starting to use the DermMatch less and less.

Things happen fast...check this out, the photo on the left is only 4 weeks older than the photo on the right!

Day 128

January 26, 2005

All is well up top and nothing much to report.

Using Lasercomb this evening before an early night.

Day 129

January 27, 2005

Not much to report again - just on the countdown until the new haircut and hoping my hair will be long enough - The MSM should do the trick.

Still using a little DermMatch but less and less each week - really starting to notice my scalp becoming less visable as time goes by.

Day 130

January 28, 2005

It's Friday!!!

Using Lasercomb this evening and off out on the town.

All is still well on the head front and hair is looking really healthy - might have something to do with the Lasercomb but whatever it is, I'm happy!

This MSM stuff as well as tasting vile seems to give you wind....charming! I hope it's worth it.

Day 131

January 29, 2005

Ordered some Saw Palmetto and some MSM Tablets today from a couple of UK suppliers.

Cannot bear the MSM crystal taste so am definately going on to the tablets!

All going well up top and getting a good deal of support and advice from the hairloss forums.

Chatted to a guy today who has had 5 hair transplants - now there's a veteran!

He reckons I might only be 30-40% of the way to a full head of hair which was brilliant news.

The photos taken today are with no product at all - just my virginal fluffy hair!

Day 132

January 30, 2005

What a day, if my site traffic carries on like this, I'm up to 50,000 page impressions a month!!

Great day today so far - with hangover - chatting (and hopefully sharing some useful information) with visitors to the site.

Hair looking great up top and looking forward to my first proper haircut - 20th Feb.

Still planning what to have done...what a great position to be in.

Day 133

January 31, 2005

Plain old ordinary Monday today - nothing much happening although I am getting the occassional comment that my hair is really starting to grow!

Using Lasercomb tonight as normal.

Added the Norwood scale to every page on the site as a reference - I was around a number 5/6 before I went for the procedure, I'll end up a 1 or 2 in a few months time....now there's a result!
