Day Of Procedure

May 5, 2005

Woke up early and the driver drove me to the Clinic - seems like I was having a Deja-Vu!
It was good to see the surgeon and the girls again - they were just as friendly as before.
The surgeon drew the new hairline on me and I couldn't believe how much he thought he could put in - I was only expecting a very slight drop but what I got was amazing to say the least.
So onto the bed and the strip was removed and stitched back up so fast. No pain just a little discomfort with the injections.

So a short break and onto my back for the implanting - again no pain apart from a little discomfort with the injections.
The procedure started at 9am and finished at 3pm with only a couple of very short breaks.
I managed to fall asleep through most of it which is why I can't actually remember much of it - it was only my own snoring that woke me up (and made the surgeon and the girls grin....how embarassing hehehe)

So all over and back to the apartment.

Was greeted at the door by Craig (who had the procedure the day before) and so definately time for another photo opportunity - vanity seems to come so naturally to some people hehehe

Had a couple of photos taken by Craig...these are incredible considering I was only in surgery an hour or so ago...

I couldn;t sleep so me a Craig went off to Molly Malones (the local Irish bar) for a meal - Highly recommended!

Back to the apartment for a chat and a good nights sleep. It really was so easy this time - I cannot believe it is all over and done with. Again, the clinic was spotless and the procedure professionally carried out. I am so glad I have had it done.

Wearing the headband to control the swelling...don't I just look like 118-118 hehehe

Goodnight.

Day 1

May 6, 2005

Just arrived home after a 4 hour flight and an hours drive from Manchester.

I would thoroughly recommend Hellas Jet to travel to and from Athens - they're friendly, the food is good and apart from a little bit of turbulance, the flight was perfect (could have something to do with me having a row to myself and so sleeping for 3 out of the 4 hours!)

The swelling has stopped mid forehead due to wearing the band. Have taken it off for now to start massaging the swelling to the side in the hope it will avoid my eyes.

I'm in no pain, not even any discomfort. I just feel a little numb on top.

Hey...what scar'

Day 2

May 7, 2005

Slept like a baby last night and although the swelling is heading south, I feel mighty fine.

I can really imagine where the new hairline is going to be and how much difference it is going to make to my whole appearance.

I am so happy and I owe it all to the surgeon.

THANK YOU!

Doing some great massage exercises as recommended by the Clinic to control the flow of the swelling and they're working!

The idea is to guide the swelling heading south to the sides of the head thus avoiding the eyes. This avoids black eyes.

You do end up with swelling at the sides of the head but that's going to be very short-lived. (Obviously you use both hands at the same time but that's a little impossible to show when I'm using one hand to take the photos :) )

Day 3

May 8, 2005

A lazy Sunday. Starting to wash my hair with the Iodine shampoo (second time) and it just feels fantastic.

Still managing to go to the pub at night wearing a hat.

The swelling in my face is almost invisible - it's only really me that knows it's there.

All is good with the transplant as all of them seem to have taken. There is still no pain and only the slightest bit of discomfort where my scar is - a few sharp pains which last milliseconds a couple of times throughout the day.

Again, I cannot recommend the clinic enough - the first transplant changed my life, goodness knows what this one is going to do to me....watch out world, here I come!!!

Day 4

May 9, 2005

Well the scabs are starting to fall out and I feel fine.

The swelling has avoided my eyes and this time I have no black eyes yipppeee!

Feel fine and sleeping well.

Day 5

May 10, 2005

Had a very quiet day - scabs still falling out and still feeling great.

Looking forward to showing my folks the results tomorrow and also looking forward to all on the scabs falling out so I don't have to wear a hat anymore!

Day 6

May 11, 2005

Spent the day with my folks - they were very impressed with the lack of swelling (and quite relieved).

Thanks - those massage techniques worked a treat!

Scabs still falling off in the 100's and although scalp looks a bit pinkish, it is very healthy.

Almost a week since my procedure and I feel 10 times better than last year.

Day 7

May 12, 2005

It's my birthday!!

Picture's of me in the pub...hic!

Day 8

May 13, 2005

Friday the 13th.....SCARY!!!

Had a lovely day with my folks again.

Head very itchy but that's to be expected.

Stitches coming out on Monday thank goodness.

Day 9

May 14, 2005

A really nice restful Saturday.

I have no more scabs on my scalp and it's a nice healthy pinkish colour. It's slightly itchy and dry but referring back to the first procedure, this happened before and was very short-lived.

I guess I'm fully recovered now although I never had any bruising, only a slight bit of swelling and near enough no pain.

How easy is that!!

Some of my own hair is falling out because of the "Shock Effect" - that's why my hair looks a little thin on top however, any hairs that fall out at this stage grow back so I'm not worried at all.
