Hair Loss Spray

June 21, 2006

These sprays vary from product to product - some attach fibres, some colour the scalp, some do both and some simply act like a can of spray paint.

It is very important to know what the different product do and how they work before investing in as much as £20 a can.

They can work very well and their best asset is time - less than 10 seconds for a fuller thicker head of hair.

How does it work?

The spray contains a dry coloured powder which binds to the hair and scalp.

to mask thinning hair, it reduces the contrast between the scalp colour and hair colour and also thicken the hair itself.

How does it look?

It is great for thinning crowns and really looks superb however, it doesn't work too well on thinning hairlines as the spray comes out fast and is difficult to blend.

How is it applied?

Instructions take from the mane website:

  • Shampoo hair, use a good conditioner and allow to completely dry.
  • Using a wide toothed brush or comb, brush the hair for a few minutes, select the area to be thickened and brush or comb hair upwards, holding in position.
  • Shake the can well and spray the thickener across the base of the thinning hair (not directly onto the scalp) until sufficient coverage is achieved.
  • When completely dry, seal the thickened area with a lighthold hair spray (for best results they recommend the use of Mane Hair Sealer) again allow to dry. If more than one is being thickened repeat the process in each area.
  • When your hair is completely dry, style it to your liking. Do not be afraid to brush your hair. When styled, use lighthold hair spray and allow to dry
  • .

What are its faults?

  • Cannot use wax, mud or gels on the hair afterwards.
  • Doesn't work well (if at all) on hairlines.

Where can I get more information?

Mane have there own website with before and after pictures and more details regarding the spray.www.maneuk.com
